Alexander Baker trading as @thatbakerface aims to conduct its work responsibly, lawfully and fairly while recognising its impact on clients, audiences, collaborators, suppliers, communities and the environment.
Approach
As a small owner-operated business, social responsibility is managed through practical day-to-day decisions rather than a large formal programme. Commitments are applied proportionately to the business’s size, resources, influence and the requirements of each project.
Ethical and lawful business
- Provide honest descriptions, quotes and invoices.
- Avoid bribery, corruption, fraud, modern slavery and conflicts that compromise professional judgement.
- Respect intellectual property, confidentiality, privacy and data protection.
- Raise material risks or limitations rather than conceal them.
- Meet agreed obligations and address genuine complaints reasonably.
People, equality and dignity
- Treat clients, audiences, workers, suppliers and collaborators with dignity and respect.
- Not tolerate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation, bullying or threatening behaviour in work controlled by the business.
- Make reasonable efforts to communicate access requirements and accommodate them where practicable and within the agreed role.
- Use fair, clearly communicated terms when engaging freelancers or subcontractors.
- Support a working environment in which safety or conduct concerns can be raised without retaliation.
Clients, audiences and quality
- Work to the agreed brief with reasonable care and skill.
- Consider audience, context, inclusion, safeguarding and accessibility where relevant to the service.
- Avoid knowingly misleading, unlawful or harmful content.
- Protect confidential, commercially sensitive and personal information.
- Be clear where a request falls outside the business’s competence, authority or safe scope.
Suppliers and collaborators
- Select suppliers on relevant factors such as suitability, reliability, value, ethics, security and environmental impact.
- Pay valid and undisputed invoices within the agreed terms.
- Use local and independent suppliers where this is practical and represents appropriate value and capability.
- Expect suppliers and subcontractors to comply with applicable law and reasonable project standards.
Community and cultural contribution
The business contributes to cultural and community life through entertainment, media, creative work and the sharing of specialist skills. Where practical and commercially sustainable, it may support local initiatives, emerging talent, community events or knowledge-sharing. This policy does not create a fixed charitable donation or unpaid-work commitment.
Environment
Environmental impacts will be managed in accordance with the separate Environmental and Sustainability Policy, including proportionate action on travel, energy, equipment, purchasing and waste.
Responsibility and review
Alexander Baker is responsible for applying this policy and considering material social, ethical and environmental issues when planning work or choosing suppliers. The policy will be reviewed when the nature or scale of the business changes significantly.
